International English Language Teachers Association (IELTA) is a non-profit organization, officially registered in Peru, with a multinational community of volunteers, that aims to improve and give  assistance to teachers of English around the world. The association was formed in July 2020 after several meetings and discussions, led by Dr. Neil Arévalo Alcántara from Perú, Mrs. Sultaneh Abou Zeid Henaineh from Lebanon, Ms. Suzanne Hitto from the USA, among others.

IELTA Ghana, an affiliate of the international association, was founded by Mr. Ebenezer Osafo Aikins on May 19, 2021 as a result of his passion for continuing professional development and his quest for improvement in the teaching and learning of English. Mr. Aikins was appointed the Ambassador in Ghana for the International English Language Teachers Association on 19 May 2021. After seven months of preparation, IELTA Ghana was officially inaugurated on December 19, 2021. The association was duly registered with the Registrar General’s Department of Ghana as a Company Limited by Guarantee on 29 March 2022 (Registration Number: CG020380322).

Members of IELTA Ghana include teachers from pre-primary to tertiary level of education. The association is decentralized in it’s organogram and the running of its activities, from the national to regional and district coordinators who are entrusted and tasked with varied responsibilities. We have well-designed contents on various topics in English streamed on YouTube, Facebook and other online portals of the association. Both members and the general public are offered access to the numerous online and onsite professional development programs. IELTA Ghana is made up of teachers who share similar challenges and opportunities.
